A monthly in depth look at the ECWA performers by Josh Martin
SUPERSTAR SPOTLIGHT
featuring ECWA Announcer
JOEL ORESKY
by Josh Martin |

He is not an ECWA wrestler, manager or referee. But he is one of the most important men in the
promotion. He is ring announcer Joel Oresky. He started with the ECWA just about 1 year ago. He had
some big shoes to fill as that position was held for years by such great ring announcers like Billy
K, Chuck Ristano, The Miami Sound Machine Mike Clark, Big Al Napier and George Koukedis. Joel
Oresky, like those before him, is the glue that keeps the ECWA shows running on time and the man who
probably gets the least amount of recognition for his efforts. The ring announcer is an important
part of the program, and his performances are often times over shadowed by the huge personas of the
in ring wrestling stars. Joel does an excellent job for the ECWA and seems to get better with each
show. This young man is liked by the ECWA fans, the ECWA management and his peers in the ECWA locker
room. In order that everyone could get to know Joel a little better, we posed several questions to
him. I hope you enjoy.

How long have you been in wrestling? In May, I will have been in this business for a year, and have loved every minute of it
What made you want to get into wrestling? I've been religiously watching all types of wrestling since I was 13,it was an outlet for me. As time went on, I became more and more intrigued. I promised myself I would get involved in this
business, and thanks to Jim Kettner and the ECWA, I'm now living my dream. I'm very proud and grateful to be a part of it
When did you join the ECWA? May 2006
How did you joining the ECWA come about? Me and a friend of mine went to an ECWA show last year right before the annual Super 8 Tournament. I had a great time, and knew I wanted to get involved in some capacity with this company. I approached owner Jim Kettner at the end of the show about working for the company, and we talked about it at the Super 8 Tournament the following month. I've been working as ring announcer ever since the May show following the Super 8.
What do you like about the ECWA? I don't have a negative thing to say about the ECWA. The thing that's most appealing to me about the ECWA is that it's got something for everyone, whether it be the top of the line wrestlers and
wrestling itself, the storylines, or the surprises, there's something for everyone to enjoy. This company is well known for its incredible wrestling and athletes, and once I got to see it first hand, that statement couldn't have been more true.
What have been your favorite ECWA moments? Honestly, every time I'm at a show is a great time/moment for me. The moments that really stand out in my mind would be, first of all, finding out from Jim I was going to be ring announcing.
Announcing my first show in May 2006 was a great experience. Before working for ECWA, seeing the Super 8 2006 Tournament live and getting to meet incredible talents such as Charlie Haas, Christopher Daniels, Senshi, Davey Richards, Petey Williams and Simon Diamond. I always have a great time working the shows, and I couldn't ask for a better group of people to be working with. What do you think about the ECWA fans? I love the ECWA fans. They're a very reciprocal and excited audience. It's never a dull moment with them.
Your thoughts on the current state of the wrestling business? I've stayed interested in this business because it always keeps me wanting more. Whether it be from the high flying stars, the hard-hitters, the storylines, or the surprises, I'm always interested in the sport of wrestling.

or watching wrestling.
What kind of work outside wrestling to you do? Just school work. After this semester is done, I will be a junior pursuing a degree in sociology. I'm actually in the process of transferring schools, so it's been incredibly busy lately.
What are your aspirations (professional & personal)? I want to continue my career in the ECWA and the wrestling business for years to come. Wrestling has always been something that's kept me motivated and happy, and I would never want to lose that feeling. Personally, to keep living every day of life like it's my last.
