DETAILED RESULTS
ECWA Show
March 1, 2008
Newark Boys’ & Girls’ Club
Newark, DE
The show promptly started at 7:30 p.m. after which a video played on the
giant ECWA Tron Screen highlighting what’s been going on in the ECWA and a
preview of tonight’s event. The video was followed by our National Anthem.
Match #1
3 way No. 1 contenders tag team match
(winners to get a tag team title shot later in the evening)
Travis Blake & Chase Del Monte
defeated Chick Magnets (Soscia & Fontaine)
& The Valedictorians
It was a fast and furious opener which saw three top teams going at it for a
chance to wrestle later in the evening for the Tag Team Championship. The
odds on favorites going into the match were the Valedictorians (who held the
titles previously for 2-1/2 years). Chick Magnets, Fontaine & Soscia were
also experienced to pull out a win in this one, especially given their
partner Mike Tobin was around ringside to more than even the odds. After 10
minutes of fast paced action that kept fans glued with their eyes on the
ring, it was the newly formed team of Chase Del Monte and Travis Blake who
pulled out the win by pinning the more experienced Valedictorian, Rob Eckos.
During the match, it was hard to tell which team had the advantage, but the
youngsters pulled out a hard fought victory over two legendary tag teams.
Match #2
3 way No. 1 contenders tag team match
(winners to get a tag team title shot later in the evening)
Tommy Trouble & Robere’ Shields
defeated J.J. Crew Guy / Hotshot Mike Reed
& Glen Osbourne / Mega
400 lb. Mega electrified the kids at ringside as he danced his way to the
ring, while his more serious partner Glen Osbourne had a look of
determination in his eyes as he entered. Sebastian Night led the team of J.J.
Crew Guy & Hot Shot Mike Reed to the ring, only after J.J. Crew Guy looked
like he was going to have more battles with ringside fans, rather than what
was awaiting him in the ring. Then fitness coach, Jim Shorts, who now
manages Tommy Trouble, brought Trouble & Robere’ Shields to the ring to
round out the match. Several times it looked as though manager Sebastian
Night & fitness coach Jim Shorts were going to have their own battle, but
being the experienced masterminds that they are, they kept their focus back
on the match at hand. Robere & Trouble, were all over the place and had more
than their share of problems with the other two more experienced teams. J.J.
Crew Guy and Hot Shot Mike Reed used their experience to cut the ring down
and keep the pressure on the Beast Glen Osbourne, who managed to get away
and tag his 400 pound partner, Mega. The match broke down at the end and in
a stunning upset…..Tommy Trouble and Robere’ Shields got a surprise double
pin on the 400 pound ECWA giant, Mega. Everyone was stunned, including
Trouble & Shields.
Video---the giant ECWA-Tron screen took our cameras backstage where Mr.
Ooh La La who has just returned form “The World Series of Magic” was
practicing his magical skills completed with a magic wand and a curtain,
that covered the infamous door that La La has been at odds with for over a
year. As La La counted to three in French, said “LA POOF” and waived the
magic wand….a person opened the cantankerous door and walked through…..Ooh
La La did this again…and again the door opened and a person was permitted to
walk through the door & curtain. Seeing his magic was now working…Ooh La La
did the magic count, said the magic words and tried to walk through the door
himself….OH WELL…..back to square one…the door did not open and Ooh La La
smashed into the door face first. The bumbling Frenchman tried to open the
door, but it seems the door (with a mind of its own) out smarted La La once
again.
Match #3
5 way Riot #1 (winner will be in the Mid Atlantic Title Match later)
Ace Darling
defeated Alec Chance
also participating: Chick Magnet Mike Tobin/Cory Blaze/Timothy Richards
The concept was easy….2 men Timothy Richards & Corey Blaze started and every
30 seconds a new man would enter until all 5 were in the ring, then the
first man do gain a pin fall would go on later with a chance to win the
vacant ECWA Mid Atlantic Championship. Alec Chance entered third and took
the battle to Blaze and Richards. Up fourth was the more experienced Chick
Magnet, Mike Tobin….and as we have seen many times, (the other Chick Magnets
followed Tobin to the ring). The icon Ace Darling was last to enter and the
match escalated for 10 minutes until the experienced Darling pulled out a
pin fall over the big man, Alec Chance. Darling would advance later with a
chance to become the new Mid Atlantic Champion.
Announcer Joel Oresky made a few announcements and read the list of fans
in attendance celebrating their birthdays.
Match #4
5 way Riot #2 (winner will be in the Mid Atlantic Title Match later)
J.J. Cruz
defeated Frederick of Hollywood
also participating: Jason Leigh/Kermon The German/The Guy w/Red Hair
The concept was the same as the previous riot. Frederick of Hollywood
accompanied by Press Agent Gus Grand came out and he was more than eager to
face The Guy with Red Hair, who had been driving Frederick crazy for months.
Bad for the man from Hollywood, because the off the wall Guy w/Red Hair
outsmarted his much larger opponent and Frederick had a hard time catching
up with the unique grappler. Jason Leigh entered next and showing
improvement with all his matches, he did not disappoint this time as well.
He more than held his own in the early stages and throughout the entire
match. J.J. Cruz, the little high flyer entered last and with the fans
solidly behind him, he pulled out a surprise victory over the much larger
and very angry, Frederick of Hollywood. Cruz was celebrating his victory
when the winner of the other Riot, Ace Darling hit the ring and attacked
him….thus kick starting the match between the two for the vacant Mid
Atlantic title.
Match #5
For the Vacant Mid Atlantic Championship
J. J. Cruz defeated Ace Darling for the title.
Cruz was somewhat exhausted coming off his win the of the previous riot over
Frederick of Hollywood and the more experienced Ace Darling capitalized on
the situation and attacked the youngster right away. A cool, calm and cocky
Ace Darling, systematically began to dissect the younger, more inexperienced
J.J. Cruz. With the crowd being Cruz, he made a brave effort to mount an
offence against Darling, but Ace was a little more than the youngster could
handle. Then in a moment that will go down in one of the most surprising
finishes in the 40 year history of the promotion, J.J. Cruz pinned Ace
Daring to become the NEW ECWA MID ATLANTIC CHAMPION…..the crowd went crazy
for J.J. Cruz and his surprise win.
Video---the backstage cameras caught up with that Master Magician, Mr.
Ooh La La who was still in a battle with the backstage door. He has ripped
the curtain down in disgust from the earlier backstage incident with the
door. The Guy w/Red Hair wondered by, pulled the curtain that La La was
standing on and the French Star went flying through the door face first….the
DOOR HAD FINALLY OPENED FOR LA LA !!!!! but it quickly shut behind him and
he was now locked out of the arena and could not get the door to let him
back in. It seems the door out smarted Ooh La La again…..well so much for
MAGIC!
Match #6
3 WAY MATCH—ECWA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
Champions---The Logan Brothers
defeated
Robere’ Shields & Tommy Trouble
Travis Blake & Chase Del Monte
An explosion happened in the arena as the Logan Brothers made their way to
the ring to defend their ECWA tag Team Titles. In the ring waiting for them
were the two winning teams from earlier matches, Robere’ Shields/Tommy
Trouble and Chase Del Monte & Travis Blake. It was a fast paced match that
saw each team pull out all stops to win the titles. The two challenging
teams, although wrestling earlier in the evening, appeared to be fresh,
poised and ready to take the titles, but the talented Logan Brothers had a
different idea. When the smoke cleared, it was Matt and Bryan Logan, still
the ECWA TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!
Announcer Joel Oresky told the crowd we would break for a 10 minute
intermission.
Match #7
ECWA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Mr. Scott Wright defeated Aden Chambers for the title!
The arrogant challenger, Mr. Scott Wright made his way to the ring, sporting
the ego driven smile that would prove to have more behind it than what
everyone was expecting. Wright grabbed the microphone and seemed for the
first time in months to be a humble human being, taking time to thank
everyone who helped him along the way get to this very moment in his life.
Then, as usual, he kicked the fans in the teeth…..he introduced his good
friend and mentor…..the owner of RGN/ECWA, Prince Nana. As if Wright upset
fans enough, he more than kicked in their faces by bringing out the evil
Prince, who has went out of his way in recent months to see that Aden
Chambers would be dethroned. Aden Chambers was more than at the top of his
game and he was well on his way to victory when Prince Nana interfered and
cost the popular Champion, the match and his title! Wright had finally done
it…becoming a 2 time ECWA Heavyweight Champion…and Nana had done
it…dethroning Aden Chambers! After Wright celebrated with the owner and
left….Prince Nana took the microphone and told the fans, he would do the
same to Freak Nastty later in the evening!
Match #8
“Good Grief-Here Comes The Beef” Tag Team Attraction
The Nigerian Nightmares defeated The Heavyweights (Dan Eckos/Sean Royal)
The young former Tag Team Champions, The Heavyweights, made their ring
posing with their young little Heavyweight fans at ringside. The celebration
soon came to a scary halt as drum music came on and a complete entourage
(consisting of drummers, and ceremonial valets) made their way around the
ring in perhaps the most anticipated ECWA debut in decades. A few minutes
later, translator, R.L. Jackson emerged from the curtain with an 848 pound
tag team that were as big and scary as anything ever seen in the ECWA in its
history. The Nigerian Nightmares were now here and as much as Sean Royal and
Dan Eckos tried….the smaller duo was no match for The Nigerians! They
severely beat Sean Royal and covered him with the Nigerian Flag before they
double splashed him for the pin fall. The poor Heavyweights had to be
helped from the ring and it took several ECWA referees and management to try
and get the Nigerians back to the dressing room after the match. It was
master mayhem at ringside as the Nigerians would not leave the area….NO ONE
could CONTROL THEM !
Match #9
ECWA Ownership at Stake
Freak Nastty defeated Prince Nana for the ownership of the ECWA!
The officials were still all out around the ring trying to control and
direct the Nigerian Nightmares and when Prince Nana was introduced for this
match and made his way to the ring…..the Nigerians were mesmerized and they
actually bowed down to the evil Prince. It seems that Prince Nana was the
only one who could command control and respect from the Nigerians. He would
have them at ringside as the match would start. Freak Nastty entered the
arena and was quick to see he was out numbered. He then left the arena to
return shortly with the ECWA tag Team Champions, The Logan Brothers who
would back him up in his corner. Nastty and Nana who have had a heated
rivalry for months wasted little time in tearing into each other. The
Nigerians and Logans were on the outside of the ring and it was mass chaos.
The referee knocked out and The Nigerians attacked Nastty and covered him
with the Nigerian Flag. One Nigerian climbed the top rope to splash Nastty,
but the Logans interfered and pulled out a move to plant Prince Nana…then
they pulled Nastty to safety and put Nana under the Nigerian Flag. The
Nigerian came off the top and splashed Nana…Nastty covered Nana and a dazed
referee counted 1-2-3….It was all over and the crowd erupted. Freak Nastty
had ended the evil reign of Prince Nana as owner of the ECWA. After the
match…Nana blamed the Logans and he insisted a chance for revenge. As new
owner…Nastty did his first official act as owner…he made a match for the
next show….a six man tag where Prince Nana and The Nigerian Nightmares would
take on him and The Logans. The fans were excited to hear this and even more
excited when Nastty said for his second act as owner he was bringing a
friend back to the ECWA for the next show…the lights dimmed and
A video played with clips…..HUMAN TORNADO returns on April 5.
Fans were excited to say the least.
The show officially ended at 10:19 p.m.
